Outdoor Lead Classes are available by private appointments only. Please email stpete@verticalventures.com to make a reservation. Our 4 hour Outdoor Lead Class prepares you to take your climbing skills outside. You'll learn: Climbing: Outdoor Climbing Tips, Crag Ethics, Preparedness Belaying: Hazards of Belaying Outdoors, Lowering a Climber as they Clean the Route Cleaning: How to Properly Clean a Route Rappelling: How to Rappell You'll also learn: How to read a guide / topo Gear - how to rack your gear, how to place/clip/clean quick draws, use extendable slings Safety Considerations (Outside vs. Indoor) Dealing with Rope Drag Anchors - how to direct in, rigging a TR anchor, rappeling How to tie a Prusik Loop Pre-requisites Must be Lead certified or equivalent Must be able to climb 5.9 Must have your own harness, shoes, and belay device (ATC or Gri Gri) Must be 16 or older to Lead Climb or Lead Belay without adult supervision $150 for Members | $170 for Non-Members

This class is very in depth; it's best you do not take this class on your first visit. The Level 2 Top Rope Belay Class will teach you more specific skills for top rope climbing. Skills include: how to tie a retraced figure 8, proper setup of GRI GRI belay device, belaying a climber without ground anchors, as well as proper positioning while belaying. This is the minimum ability level needed to acces our "Pit" climbing area. Pre-Requisites Must be 13 or older Must be Level 1 belay checked Must be able to climb 5.9 $35 for Members | $50 for guests
