OUR CLIMBING ROUTES

Thoughtfully Set. Constantly Evolving. Built for Everyone.

At Vertical Ventures, our climbing routes are designed to challenge, inspire, and invite climbers of all experience levels. Our dedicated routesetting team refreshes routes throughout the gym on a weekly rotational schedule, giving climbers time to project, refine movement, and enjoy the satisfaction of sending — while always keeping things fresh.

Whether you’re chasing a tricky sequence or flashing something new, there’s always something worth trying.

Our Routesetting Philosophy

We believe great routesetting is about more than difficulty — it’s about movement, creativity, and accessibility.

Our routesetting team is led by Jiarra, with a diverse group of experienced setters who intentionally design climbs for different bodies, strengths, heights, and styles. With deep roots in the climbing world, our setters draw from years of experience across gyms, outdoor areas, and competitive settings to create routes that are engaging, thoughtful, and fun.

Our goal is to make sure every climber can find something that feels challenging, rewarding, and achievable — no matter how you move.

About Grades (Use Them, Don’t Worship Them)

We use grading systems as guides, not rules.

Grades are helpful for figuring out where you might want to start, but climbing grades are inherently subjective. Everyone experiences climbs differently — based on body type, strengths, reach, technique, and even mood that day.

Climb what looks fun. Try things outside your usual range. Ignore the number if something sparks your curiosity. Progress isn’t always about going “up” in grade — sometimes it’s about smoother movement, better balance, or simply enjoying the process.

Climbing Route Grades

  • Rope Climbing: We use the Yosemite Decimal System (YDS) for top-rope and lead routes.

  • Bouldering: We use the V-scale for boulder problems.

If you ever have questions about grades, where to start, or what to try next, our staff and routesetters are always happy to help.

Climb Your Way

There’s no single “right” way to climb here. Some days you might push yourself. Other days you might cruise, play, or just move your body. All of it counts.

Try hard. Try easy. Try something weird.
Climbing is about exploration — and having fun while you do it.

Our Setting Schedule

New climbing routes are set Monday through Thursday, with different zones refreshed each day. This rotating schedule means routes typically stay up for 6–8 weeks, giving climbers time to project, progress, and enjoy the process — while ensuring there’s always something new to explore.

Whether you climb once a week or every day, you’ll regularly find fresh challenges alongside familiar favorites.
