Few projects have remained as doable and yet as elusive as Barndoor 2000 at the Stone Fort near Chattanooga, TN.  Decades of suitors have thrown themselves at it head on, but to no avail.

Until yesterday October 20th, 2011.

Jimmy Webb reports on his blog that he sent the rig third try after several attempts the previous day and many seasons of sessions.

If you have purchased or are planning on purchasing Petzl’s new Gri Gri 2, you need to be aware of the safety recall.  Apparently, some units in the serial # range between 10326 and 11136 loose complete function of the auto-locking feature.  If your unit is in this series, STOP USE IMMEDIATELY!

We at The SEND are dialed in, and our inside operatives in Yosemite Valley are confirming for us that National Geographic cover boy Alex Honnold has free soloed The Phoenix (5.13).  The Phoenix was the first 5.13 and was established by Ray Jardine back in like the 1800′s.  True story.  Honnold rapped in and then soloed out.  He has also free soled the Chouinard Herbert on Sentinel for the cameras of 60 Minutes.  Look for that footage soon.

Don’t try that at home kids!
