Looking Glass

Looking Glass offers trad climbing to climbers of all abilities on impeccable North Carolina granite.  Three distinct areas (North Face, Sun Wall and South Face) provide three distinct styles of climbing.

Location and Directions

North Face

The North Face features many STEEP aid and hard free climbs.  This is a good option if the weather looks iffy as the overhanging rock provides shelter from light rain.

Sun Wall/Nose area

The Sun wall features many moderate multi-pitch classics.  Popular routes such as The Nose, Sundial Crack and Tits and Beer see much traffic on busy weekends and even weekdays.

South Face

The South Face offers many moderate single pitch options as well as some more difficult lines and a few tr’s.

Camping

There are free primitive camping locations in the Pisgah National Forest.  One is at the trailhead for the South Face, others are scattered about off of the gravel roads.  The Davidson River Campground near the entranve to the forest has hot showers and car camping sites.
